Typical NJ diner, with typical diner food in an old diner style. Service was ok. Slow during busy times, which is understandable. We ordered pancakes and eggs. It came out slow but still hot but good. Prices are relatively cheap compared to ones up north. Gets a recommendation from me.
Classic NJ diner experience. Lots of parking and room for everyone. No problem seating and great service for the typical Sunday morning breakfast crowd. Food hit the spot and prices are decent.
Breakfast always a winner. Hash browns exactly as ordered, crispy with onions mixed in. Excellent coffee, very tasty with endless refills. Cheddar cheese omelettes perfectly done. Service always with a smile and good cheer. Clean, neat, friendly environment, always feels like coming home. Guess it should after 50 + years of going there with our daughters and now our granddaughter (her early favorite, waffles with a scoop of ice cream).
I've been going to Golden Dawn pretty much since it first opened in the 80's. Always went there after the clubs closed at night, and then after "The Dawn" shortened their hours, been coming in for dinner about twice a month. The food is great and there's been a variety of servers over the years, but I remember all of them as being great, very friendly, and its nice to come to a familiar place where you'll see people you know and enjoy. they have a very extensive menu, and I can recommend the eggplant parm, among other things.
Food was delicious and plentiful. Very friendly staff and waitresses. The eggplant was fried and freshly made as a side with tomato sauce.Turkey was moist and tender, stuffing really good, gravy and cranberry sauce. We really enjoyed our meal and had to take it home , more than enough for two meals. Will be back.
Golden Down is simplicity itself -- stellar service, compact menu and well prepared comfort food that's truly a credit to the "diner" breed. Granted my order is almost always, matzo ball soup and a sublime chicken salad sandwich on rye but why risk fate when it's perfection every time. A lifetime of fives.
food was amazing and prices were fair. the fries were so crispy and flavourful, and my friend loved their breakfast burger (bacon added) as well. service was quick and attentive, even though it was quite busy when we went. the ambiance is average, nothing special, but it the food makes it all worth it. it was my first time there and i will definitely be back.
